  Abstract

Universal access to knowledge through Serageldin RMLA
This effort began with a collaboration of Egyptian, United States and Russian scientists. USSR and Russian libraries always had good interlibrary loan system. Twenty years ago a Supercourse, Library of lectures in Global Health become a source of scientific knowledge for scientists worldwide. In the early days we only had about 1000 members in our network, and then it grew, and grew, and grew. Scientists, especially in developing world, always looking for scientific information. Supercourse lectures were available from more than 40 mirror servers around a world. We have about 50,000 scientists worldwide who received our newsletters weekly. Collaboration was empowered by Supercourse lectures DVD distribution and creation of Science Supercourse Project http://ssc.bibalex.org/home/list.jsf in 2009 . Shortly our network starts to grow with E-mails of most of the faculty in Universities in Africa and Arab World. By September 2015 we identified 526,000 unique E-mail addresses of scientists of the world with 54,000 in Africa, and 30,000 in Arab countries. We usually send our newsletters to these scientist 2 times per month. Than we were able to took this to whole new level where we were able to capture 1,200,000 scientists through PubMed Central publication references. With the more than 200,000 PowerPoint lectures, Help Desk, 12,000 research methods Books, we have now largest scientific network in the world with about 2,000,000 members of the Library of Alexandria Scientific grid, or 25% of the world’s scientists with the Library of Alexandria at the heart. This whole network was contacted in 2016 and recently with a news about free access to largest collection of research methods online materials and paper books. Our network was informed and supported save Serageldin campaign shows the power of our network. The approach that our group undertook is involving improving access to research methods materials through Research Methods Library of Alexandria (RMLA) - http://ssc.bibalex.org/helpdesk/introduction.jsf. Currently we have 20 buttons and 7 Link to RMLA from Regional Centres in Africa. By establishing the largest research methods books library in the World at the Library of Alexandria and electronic interlibrary loan system, scientists in Africa, Russia and worldwide will be able to have access to most research methods online materials and books. We will discuss future collaboration and development of Research Methods Library of Alexandria (RMLA) and InterLibrary Loan system at 2018 BioVision meeting.
