Dr. Marwa El-Wakil is currently the Head of the Academic Research Sector at Bibliotheca Alexandrian (BA). Through her work she oversees and supervisors several academic centers and programs addressing different disciplines. She is the Former Director of Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a scientific and cultural center at BA. During her work at the BA, she has led and coordinated many collaborative projects and programs such as BA partnership with the UN Resident Coordinator office to support sustainable development in Egypt, Arab Regional Partner for the World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries (TWAS-AREP), South to South Collaboration for Genomics Innovation project (University of Toronto), Education for Sustainable Development beyond the Campus (EU TEMPUS project), Post-doctoral Research Grants program in partnership with the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and many others. She authored, co-authored and edited a number of publications and has had several contributions at international and national events. Before joining the BA, Marwa was a researcher at Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute, City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications, Egypt.
