The Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) hosted the launch of the Arab Network of Networks for Science and Technology (ANNST) program which took place at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
It is worth mentioning that the idea of the program was raised during BioVisionAlexandria 2008 conference, held 12-16 April 2008, when a taskforce was initiated to serve as a hub for building ANNST - a network to connect the scientific organizations in the Arab region to facilitate their collaboration.
On 21 October, after announcing the TWAS Regional prize winner and the TWAS-ARO young affiliates at a general opening, the ANNST meeting started with a presentation by Dr. Dianna Derhak, Director of Business Development, EPOS USA, and Dr. Magdy Madkour, Special Advisor, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, followed later by a closed meeting for the taskforce founders where various ideas and suggestions concerning the Network were discussed .
On 22 October, some of the TWAS-ARO members joined the ANNST meeting that was chaired by Dr. Dianna Derhak. Several of the taskforce members and TWAS-ARO members gave presentations on the topic.
The meeting was successfully adjourned after setting a primary plan for the networks activities.
