The BA Announces the Winners of El-Abnudi Prize for Slang Poetry and Critical Studies 2021

The BA and Hassan Rateb Foundation for Creativity are honored to announce the winners of the third round of Abdel Rahman El-Abnudi Prize for Slang Poetry and Critical Studies, in commemoration of the anniversary of El-Abnudi’s death (21 April). Winners were selected from a shortlist that was announced in the second half of April 2021, and was approved by Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA.

Winners in the Slang Poetry section are:

  1. Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed Amin El-Gamal, for his poem Gawi.
  2. Habiba Zein El-Abedeen Abdel Rasoul Gouda, for her poem Seret El Gemeiz (The Sycamore Way).

Winners in the Critical Studies section are:

  1. Ahmed Mohamed El-Sagheir, for his study “The Semiotics of the Dramatic Poem in the Works of Abdel Rahman El-Abnudi: A Critical Approach.”
  2. Reda Attia Iskandar Farag, for his study “Abdel Rahman El-Abnudi’s Poetical Composition Structures.”

The first winners in both sections receive EGP 30,000, while the second winners receive EGP 20,000. Additionally, certificates of merit will be granted to the winners and shortlisted contestants.

It is worth mentioning that Abdel Rahman El-Abnudi Prize for Slang Poetry and Critical Studies was first launched in 2018, in a ceremony held at the BA Sinnari House and attended by Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Dr. Hassan Rateb, Mrs. Nihal Kamal, and a host of prominent intellectuals, writers, and poets.
