Alexandria — As part of the BA’s interest in different arts and sciences and its aim of reviving the spirit of the ancient Library of Alexandria and its scientific and cultural role, the BA Manuscripts Center is organizing the Resident Scholar’s Program (RSP). following the tradition of the Ptolemaic Rulers, who established the ancient Library.
Ptolemaic Rulers traditionally hosted distinguished scholars from all over the world at the Library with the aim of disseminating knowledge, developing the arts and sciences, thus depicting Alexandria as an eternal beacon for thought and science.
In this context, the manuscript center adopted this program of hosting distinguished scholars and specialists of heritage at the BA. During his/her stay at the BA, the resident scholar will meet with specialists on daily basis to ensure the spread of knowledge from a generation to another. The resident scholar during his/her two week stay will give lectures to the public. The center will document these lectures, which will be available to the public at the cost price. Invitations were extended to number of heritage specialists from all over the world. The program started in the beginning of 2006 and will include the participation of Roshdi Rashed (France), Ramazan Sesen (Turkey), Abdul Hamid Sabra (USA), A.Sh. Benbin (Morocco) and others.
