The Fifth International Summer Festival

Alexandria — the BA Arts Center is holding during the period from 15 July -17 August the Fifth International Summer Festival entitled First Time, in which Belgium, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Slovenia, Spain, and the United States of America will participate. The Festival will include plastic art, music, cinema, and theater. The title of the festival First Time does not mean the literal meaning of the word, it means the beginning or the transition from one phase to the other, from a hobby to a profession. The Summer Festival is an international and local meeting place for different arts, where sculpture, music, cinema, painting, and theater meet altogether in a creative atmosphere.

About Plastic Art, the center holds an exhibition entitled Alexandria International Symposium Sculpture in Natural Material from 15 July – 31 August, in which artists from Egypt, Turkey, and Bahrain participated, in addition to an exhibition Alexandrian Spectrums featuring new perceptions about Alexandria by artists from Egypt and France from 15 July- 28 August. First Time exhibition will feature works by young plastic artists.

About Music, the festival will begin with a concert by Omar Khairat accompanied by BA Orchestra conducted by Maestro Sherif Mohieeldin on Sunday, 16 July 2006. The BA Arts Center will give young musicians the opportunity to present their musical performances, in addition to holding a competition for youth. The young music bands participating in the festival are namely Sadeem Band on 17 July, Gipsea Band on 18 July, Hypnosis Band on 19 July, Resonance Band on 20 July, Midnight Symphony Band on 21 July, Sneen Band on 23 July, Incarnation Band on 24 July, Nemesis Band on 25 July, Mascara Band on 26 July, The Crowed Band on 27 July, On Thronez Band on 28 July. All shows will start at 21:00 hrs.

About Cinema, the center will present some short movies (Egypt, Europe, Lebanon, Arab World) which forms a unique model in cinema styles in the third millennium. The theater shows, held as part of the Summer Festival, reflect diversity in style, methodology, and approach.
