Anna Lindh Foundation: Training Course on Cultural Conflicts Resolution and on Project Development for Youth Workers and Teachers

Alexandria—The Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures together with the Head of ALF network in Cyprus, Intercollege, Nicosia Cyprus are organizing – a training course on Cultural Conflicts Resolution and on Project Development for Youth Workers and Teachers. Sixty young people and teachers from thirty two Euro-Med countries will participate in the training course in Nicosia, Cyprus from 19 to 24 February 2007.

The training - will develop the competencies of youth workers and teachers in addressing cultural factors of conflicts. The participants are expected to support members of the ALF network and the civil society in their country to develop projects in the field of intercultural Dialogue and Conflict Resolution. The participants will be introduced also to contribute to conflict resolutions through simulation games and other methods. Such methods have been developed by the Center of the analysis of conflicts and their models of solution (CADMOS), with partners in Lebanon, Morocco and France, in cooperation with the ALF.

A public opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday 21 February 2007 at 13:30 at the UNESCO Amphitheatre Intercollege, Nicosia. Opening speeches will be given by the Executive Director of the Anna Lindh Foundation, Dr. Traugott Schoefthaler, Ambassador Ioabbides, Cypriot representative to the EuroMed Committee to the sixty delegates from thirty two Euro-Med countries and other guests. Followed by a press conference.

CADMOS, which is a center of research providing a Master Course in Diplomatic Studies and Negotiation Strategies provides, the expertise for the training course.

As a main output of the training course, guidelines for the development of a training manual on Cultural Conflict Resolution and a plan of action to promote activities for the year of intercultural dialogue 2008 will be developed.
