Lecture: War of Languages

Alexandria—the calligraphy center wil organize a lecture entitled " War of Languages" on Wednesday, 21 March 2007.
The lecture will be given by Prof. Ashraf Ahmed Farag, Linguistics Department, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, Damanhour.
A Study of the Linguistic Invasion Concept in Light of Political Linguistics
The lecture tackles the changes in a certain language, as a result of external effects, be it military, economical, or cultural. These effects introduce new expressions and terms to the original language, similar to the war waged by the old colonialism on a state's original language, which is now known as the clash of civilizations.
The lecture will start at 12:00 at the Auditorium, BA entrance.
