Alexandria—
A delegation from the University of California-Davis top management, headed by Dr. Kais Menoufy and Dr. Suad Joseph, general editor of the Encyclopedia of Women and Islamic Culture (EWIC), visited the BA on 20 March 2007. The delegation met with Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria then toured the Library premises and was introduced to BA's IT facilities. During the tour, the delegation visited the Internet Archive and its new Petabox machine. They also visited the computer-aided virtual environment–Virtual Immersive Science and Technology Applications (VISTA), the only one of its kind in Africa and the Middle East.
The delegation was quite impressed by the advanced IT facilities and the proficiency of the services the Library provides for its visitors.
