The BA participated in De Lange Conference VI "Emerging Libraries", March 5-7, 2007 held in Rice University, Houston, Texas.
The conference, gathering the world's foremost thinkers, aims to describe how knowledge will be accessed, discovered, and disseminated in the age of digital information.
Dr. Noha Adly, ISIS and ICT director, participated in the De Lange VI Conference. Dr. Adly gave an engaging presentation entitled “Born Digital: Egypt's New Bibliotheca Alexandrina”. The presentation included an account of the Library’s mission, vision, and activities. Dr. Adly talked broadly about the main activities carried by the Library to restore the glories of the old legendary Bibliotheca Alexandrina through its projects, research centers, and partnerships with other regional and international partners. Afterwards, she gave detailed information about the digital projects adopted by the library.
The presentation received great attention from the conference’s attendees, and they were specifically impressed by the fact that the Library is the host of a complete copy of the Internet Archive: 1.5 Petabytes of data on nearly 900 computers.
