The Opening of the Imaging the Book Biennale

Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA, and Maestro Sherif Mohie El-Din, Director of the Arts Center opened the BA Second International Biennale (Imaging the Book), celebrating the deep thoughts of Umberto Eco on "Vegetal and Mineral Memory".
Dr. El-Razzaz said that he appreciates the efforts of Susan Horvitz and Robert Roosh, that are highly respected in the book industry as a creative work combining plastic art and dimensional concepts. He said that this endeavor came to light thanks to heartfelt support of Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, tedious efforts of Maestro Sherif Mohie El-Din, and the follow up of artist Ahmed Abdel Ghani, General Coordinator.
The second Imagining the Book Biennale is hosting a group of elite artists from all over the world in the, as an international gathering for contemporary art. This endeavor is the outcome of an interactive workshop held in cooperation between the BA and Alexandria Beatification Center. Artists interacted with different traditional and modern expressional media in light of 3000 years, the age of the book. Artists created books, real and imaginary, some of which we can read and listen to, others fill us with their aroma and lead us to a state of imagination full of nostalgic and oriental ideas, where we can imagine the book.
