The BA Dialogue Forum will hold on Saturday, 21 July 2007, a seminar entitled "Peace Education". Dr. Soliman Abdel Moneim, Professor of Law, Alexandria University will speak in the seminar, chaired by Dr. Azza Kholy, Deputy Director, Peace Studies Institute, and Professor of English Literature, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University.
The seminar will discuss means of disseminating peace education through understanding, developing coexistence patterns in the 21st centuries and merging these concepts in the educational curricula in different educational levels.
The term peace education appeared in the end of the 20 century in the UN and UNESCO, accompanied by an interest in the culture of peace, peace making, and peace safeguarding. The concept of peace education was founded to express the willingness of the entire world at the end of the 20 century to eliminate violence, wars, and entrench values of tolerance, and belief in the minds of men and women.
It is worth mentioning that the Dialogue Forum holds two seminars monthly tackling different areas of knowledge and science, in which the audience participates in an open dialogue with the speakers, thus deeply rooting values of tolerance, dialogue, and understanding of the other stipulated in the BA's mission and objectives.
The seminar will start at 19:30 hrs. at the Lectures Hall, BA Conference Center.
