Alexandria—The BA Planetarium Science Center (PSC) is holding a series of lectures about astronomy during the month of September.

In the first lecture, entitled “A Journey to Saturn”, Astronomer Aymen Ibrahem presents a virtual space exploration of Saturn, and presents a big collection of the Cassini spacecraft images which has been orbiting Saturn, the ringed wonderful planet, since July 2004.

The second lecture, “A Collision with Jupiter”, introduces the story of the collision of a meteoroid with the planet Jupiter, which occurred on 19 July 2009. The lecture is also an intriguing exploration of the solar system’s largest planet, its stormy, turbulent atmosphere, powerful magnetic field, and large family of moons.

The last lectures in September 2009 is “A Collision with the Moon”. It presents an intriguing exploration of the Moon, featuring exquisite images acquired by spacecrafts that visited the Moon, and interesting facts on its orbit and its physical and geological characteristics. The lecture also brings in the missions of LRO and LCROSS spacecrafts, scheduled to collide with the Moon.

Presented by Astronomer Aymen Ibrahem, all lectures take place on Mondays at the BA Auditorium, at 1:00 pm, and are open for public.
