A Guide on the International Venice Cinema Festival 1932- 2003

The Arts Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina has recently published a book entitled ‘A Guide on the International Venice Cinema Festival 1932- 2003’, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Festival.
Written by Mr. Samir Farag, film critic and film advisor to the Library, the book is divided into several sections. The first chapter is a list of names of all the directors of the Festival, starting with Jozini Folbi and Octavio Cruzy up till Alberto Barberra and Mauritz deHadlen. Another chapter lists all the prizes given by the Festival since 1932 to 2003.
The book also includes a part about the Golden Awards given to prominent productions in the history of cinema: The American “Ana Karnina” (1935) by director Clarence Brown; British ‘Hamlet’ (1984) directed by Sir Lawrence Olivier and Russian “Ivan’s Childhood” (1962) by director André Tarkovisky.
