The BA Honors Pioneers of Calligraphy and Inscriptions in the Arab World

The BA Calligraphy Center organizes a Ceremony on Sunday, 10 October 2010 entitled “Ahmed Pasha Kamal and Pioneers of Calligraphy and Inscriptions in the Arab World”, with the participation of established Arab scientists and specialists.
The date of the Ceremony coincides with the date of appointing Ahmed Kamal Pasha in the Egyptian Antiquates Authority as the first Arab Archeologist in the 19th century. He was the first to take interest in calligraphy and inscriptions as a gateway to understand ancient Arab civilizations, and to highlight their common roots.
During the Ceremony, the scientific and field contributions in calligraphy and inscriptions across the ages will be presented in an aim to foster Arab cultural interaction.
The Ceremony will also include an exhibition displaying the artistic works of the Arabic Calligraphy and Hieroglyphics Children Workshops.
The Ceremony is held at the BACC Small Theater at 10:00 am, and is open for public.
