Statement Concerning Dr. Ismail Serageldin

Statement
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA)—an organization that fully respects the prestigious Egyptian judicial system, never interferes in its affairs, and never comments on its verdicts—affirms the prominent scholarly status and high moral standing of Dr. Ismail Serageldin, whose name has been closely tied to the BA for over 15 years since its inauguration.
The BA commends Dr. Serageldin as an internationally renowned and respected figure among national and international academic and cultural circles. The BA, an Egyptian icon and international organization on the shore of the Mediterranean, will always remember the efforts he had dedicated to the BA’s journey since its inauguration in 2002. The Library wishes that Dr. Serageldin would overcome this predicament, within the framework of the just rule of law and the faith of our nation, in order for him to resume his role in the fields of knowledge, intellect, and culture in Egypt.
