Hellenistic Alexandria: Celebrating 24 Centuries

Dr. Mostafa el Feki, Director of the BA, is heading a BA delegation traveling to Greece to celebrate the 24th centenary of the establishment of Alexandria at an international conference set to be held in Athens. About 35 eminent scholars, who specialize in Hellenistic Alexandria, from around the world will participate in the conference. As part of the celebrations, Dr. El Feki will present Greece with Islamic Architecture in Greece: Mosques by Dr. Ahmed Ameen, professor at the Faculty Of Archeology, Fayoum University.
On a different note, Dr. El Feki will be exploring the chance of cooperation with a number of Greek organizations and gifting a collection of BA publications to the National Library of Greece. His visit also aims to activate and build cultural connections, represented in a variety of projects, in order to strengthen Egyptian-Greek relations in the fields of culture and science.
Dr. El Feki asserted that the BA is about to establish a program that focuses on studying Alexandria since pharaonic times until our present day. He added that in 2018, the Library will issue a number of publications that offer a novel outlook on the history and heritage of Alexandria. The BA will also publish a three-volume book, translated from German, on the history of Egypt during the Greco-Roman Period and another book documenting Alexandria in the first half of the 21st century through pictures.
