Within the framework of the Linking Scientific Computing in Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean (LinkSCEEM)-2 FP7 Project, the BA organized the Third LinkSCEEM General User Meeting, from 25 to 27 June 2013.

The Meeting aimed to demonstrate the capabilities of High Performance Computing (HPC) and its applications in research, as one of the BA’s outreach endeavours targeting the scientific research community in Egypt and the region. It included theoretical, hands-on training sessions and open discussions regarding various topics related to the use of HPC in different domains of research. In addition, participants were given access to the BA HPC systems where they were able to carry out hands-on application to what they have learned.

The Meeting attracted young researchers from different governorates representing various scientific fields such as: Meteorology, Computer, Engineering, and Biophysics.

The Meeting is the third to be held at the BA within the framework of LinkSCEEM-2 project. It is part of the LinkSCEEM-2 project training activities, which aims at integrating regional computational resources, creating user support and training programs and enabling research of particular relevance to the region in fields such as climate, cultural heritage, and synchrotron.
