Lake Mariut: A Lecture at the Bibliotheca Alexandria (BA)

Alexandria — As part of the BA’s interest in arts and sciences that enrich humanity, and its efforts to revive the scientific role of the ancient Library of Alexandria, "the Youth for Sustainable Development and Better Understanding Program" which is organized by the Center for Special Studies and Programs is holding a series of lectures on education, environment, and population growth. In this context, the center is organizing a lecture on Tuesday, 4 July 2006, entitled A View on Lake Mariut by Dr. Salah Soliman, Professor of Pesticide Chemistry and Toxicology, Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University. The lecture will discuss environmental hazards facing Lake Mariut as a result of industrial wastes dumped in the lake, and the hazards of theses practices on the environmental stability in general. These lectures aim at developing the capacities of youth, and training them on preserve natural resources using scientific techniques.
The lecture will start at 17:00 hrs at the Meeting Hall, at the BA Conference Center, open to the public.
