Jacques Chirac Donates Works of Claude Debussy to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA)

Alexandria — the BA is organizing on Wednesday, 12 July 2006, a celebration on the occasion of the French President Jacques Chirac’s donation of musical works of the French composer Claude Debussy to the BA. HE Ambassador Philippe Coste, the French Ambassador to Egypt, Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, and Dr. Sohair Wastawy, Head of Library Services Sector will attend the celebration.
Claude Debussy (1862-1918) is the pioneer of the impressionism in music, and one of the most important composers of the twentieth century.
The celebration will start at 16:30 hrs at the Middle Hall, BA Conference Center.
