On the Issues and Problems of Scientific Research in the Arab World

Alexandria— The Library of Alexandria In cooperation with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, is organizing a conference "On the Issues and Problems of Scientific Research in the Arab World", from 14-15 November 2006.
The conference will bring together a distinguished group of Arab and non-Arab scientists working in the centers of excellence in scientific research at both the Arab and international levels, to discuss problems of scientific research in the Arab World. The conference will focus on five main themes; Science, technology, and society, The role of policy, Expanding human resources, Creating world-class research institutions, Engaging the public and private sectors and Financing mechanisms for research and development in science and technology.
The goal of this conference is to promote the active exchange of views and experiences on the issues and problems of building capacities for scientific research and technology development in the Arab World and, hopefully, encourage new ideas, networking, and constructive collaboration for promoting research and development in science and technology to better meet the challenges of the 21st century.
