A Lecture on “Greek Poet Cavafis” at the BA

the BA Arts Center will organize on Wednesday, 9 May 2007, a lecture entitled "Greek Poet Cavafis", in cooperation with Cervantes Institute in Cairo.
The lecture will be given by journalist and writer Ramón Irigoyen, who will speak about Cavafis, as a unique poetic phenomenon, which trespassed all boundaries and entered into the fabric of the world's literature. Irigoyen will present Cavafis' life story, focusing on certain stages which led to his poetic maturity, and certain characters who left their fingerprints in the life of Cavafis, especially Robert Liddell. Irigoyen will also refer to Cavafis' proficiency in embodying the spirit of cosmopolitan Alexandria, which remains a great inspiration for poets and men of letter, and how Cavafis' poems are still alive in the minds of people all over the world. Ramón Irigoyen will also present some of the critic review written on Cavafis' works.
The lecture will start at 19:00 hrs., at the BA Conference Center, Small Theater.
