The BA Announces the Winners of the Research Grants Program 2006/2007

Alexandria— The BA announced the winners of the third stage of the research grants program for the year 2006/2007, organized by the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP). Dr. Mohamed Faham, Director of the CSSP, stated that 6 Egyptian researchers won the research grants, namely: Dr. Atef Ibrahim Abdel Masoud specialized in agricultural sciences from Zagazig University, Dr. Khaled Mohamed El-Saadany specialized in agricultural sciences from Alexandria University, Dr. Walid Mahmoud El-Sharoud specialized in agricultural sciences from Mansoura University, Dr. Tarek Abdullah El-Tayeb specialized in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Cairo University, Dr. Khaled Abd El-Al Selim specialized in Engineering and Technology from the Central Institute of Mineral Research and Development, and Dr. Rasha Mohamed El-Nashar specialized in Chemistry from the German University in Cairo.

More than 220 Egyptian PhD holders specialized in agriculture, biology, biochemistry and biophysics, engineering sciences, information technology, mathematics, medical sciences, physics, and astronomy entered the competition.

It is worth mentioning that the program of research grants started in 2004. Winners in the second and third round were selected in 2006 and 2007. Grants were given to 24 researchers to date. Registration for 2007/2008 program will start soon. The grants program covers natural sciences, mathematics, and information technology. It is expected that the scope of research grants will extend to include social sciences and humanities.
