El-Nas ely fel Talet in a Play Reading at the BA

Posted on

Alexandria—The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading in Arabic on Wednesday, 25 March 2009. Participants will read El-Nas ely fel Talet (The People on the Third Floor) by Ossama Anwar Okasha.

The play is set in an old building overlooking Ramses street, a main street in Cairo, and is about a family of a mother, four sons and daughters and a maid. It starts with the wedding of the eldest son and the return of another son from the Gulf where he had been working. However, celebrations come to an abrupt end with heavy knocks on the flat’s door, and the intrusion of police officers who claim that there is a terrorist group planning to assassinate the President of a foreign country who is on a visit to Egypt. To make matters worse, the officers are pretty sure the terrorist group is in this flat. The investigations were not only tiresome and totally unfair, but also revealing, for they exposed what has been secrets until then.

The session starts at 16:00 hrs. at the BA Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library entrance.
