Alexandria—The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center in cooperation with the Alexandria Annex of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture holds a performance of the play Orestis on Sunday 22 November 2009.

This theatrical monologue celebrates Yannis Ritsos’s year, marking the 100th anniversary of the Greek renowned Poet. Orestis here is a hesitant young man driven by his duty to avenge the death of his father, Agamemnon, who was killed by his mother, Clytemnestra. The Play also reflects Electra, Orestis sister, as introduced by another Greek playwright, Sophocles.

Orestis is performed by Al-Madinah troupe, directed by Ahmad Saleh, and translated into Arabic by Khaled Raouf.

The performance will start at the BACC Small Theater at 8:00 pm.
