A Salute to the Mothers of Martyrs

Today, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, the tradition that was started by Moustafa Amin,
And as we enjoy the first fruits of our ongoing Revolution,
And as we take our first steps in the long road of democracy,
We must pause and remember the mothers of the martyrs;
Mothers who lost the apple of their eye so that we may breathe freedom.
Their children have left this world, but live on in all our hearts.
Today is indeed Mother of the Martyr’s Day.
To them we say: today, we are all your own sons and daughters.
A salute to all Egyptian mothers who gave life to heroes and heroines,
A salute to all mothers of the martyrs,
And a salute to Egypt, the Motherland.
