Lecture on “Political Islam and the Religious Map in Egypt”

The Futuristic Studies Unit holds a lecture on Tuesday, 19 April 2011, entitled “Political Islam and the Religious Map of Egypt” by Hossam Tammam, Unit Head and Researcher in Political Islamic Movements.
The role of political Islamic movements prior and post the 25th of January Revolution raises several dilemmas on the political, cultural and social arenas. With the freedom exercised after the Revolution, these movements have enjoyed much more space, propagating ideas and programs that could change the whole public scene in Egypt and lead to drastic changes in the political and social structure of the country. As a result, this raises several questions on the nature of these movements, their ideas, programs and structures, such as: what is political Islam? What is the future of these movements after the Revolution?
The lecture is held as part of the political awareness training program which aims at spreading awareness without dictating a certain political or intellectual ideology.
The lecture is held at the BACC Great Hall at 6:30 pm, and is open for public.
