Science Educators Participate in Science Day

Science educators came together at the Exploratorium on April 29 for the Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s second annual “Science Day,” hosted by the Library’s Planetarium Science Center. The event featured professional development topics for science teachers, including workshops on conducting scientific experiments in the classroom, evaluating the success of practical, hands-on teaching methods, and encouraging continuous training for the teachers themselves. It was also a rare opportunity for participants to exchange their opinions on, and discuss their experience with, teaching science to children.

Mr. Denier Savois, Director of the “Palais de la Découverte” in Paris, opened the day with a seminar on “Science in the School: From the Theoretical to the Practical.” The event brought together representatives of the Egyptian Ministry of Education, the Alexandria Research Center, the National Museum of Alexandria and the French Cultural Center in Cairo, as well as teachers from both private and public schools.
