Architectural Heritage and Cultural Identity Conference at the BA

The Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT), affiliated to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, is organizing the Architectural Heritage and Cultural Identity Conference, 14-15 December 2004, in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), and the Archeological and Architectural Heritage and Conservation Forum.

The conference will involve discussions on various topics among which are Architectural Documentation and Conservation and Information Systems for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, Latest Methods in Architectural Heritage Conservation, Historical Buildings of Rachid and The Role of Foreign Communities in building of Contemporary Alexandria-Architectural Approaches for Alexandrian Urbanization in the 20th Century. In addition, talks about the Siwa Oasis will be held, Siwa between Conservation and Ruin, Folklore of Siwa Oasis and the Conservation of the Architectural Identity of Siwa.

Participants include specialists in heritage conservation, and university professors including Professor Abbas Abdel Halim Yehia, Head of the Architectural Engineering and Environmental Design Department at the AAST, Mr. Mohamed A. El-Gindy, former Attorney General of Egypt and Dr. Fathy Saleh, Director of CULTNAT).
