Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, received the Silver Shield from YouTube, celebrating the BA YouTube channel number of followers that reached more than one hundred thousand subscribers to become an officially documented channel that preserves the intellectual property rights of its own visual content: https://www.youtube.com/user/BAchannel

YouTube praised the library's effective and fruitful communication with the public, as well as its ability to build a rich and diverse community of followers through the scientific, cultural and educational content it provides to the site's visitors.

This recognition is the culmination of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina's contributions to enriching its visual content through the diverse production of its programs and documentaries that are broadcast on its YouTube channel.

The BA Studio Department has developed a new vision in the creation and management of the channel’s visual content since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, which aimed for a wider dissemination of the library's message and sought to reach a greater number of followers of different interests and age groups. These endeavors were accomplished through media coverage, together with the documentation, photography and archiving of all the BA digital events and activities that did not stop amidst the coronavirus pandemic, in order to expand the Library’s visual memory, enhance its media promotion, and reflect it in a manner that befits its status and cultural role, while building strong relations with various bodies and institutions.

It is worth mentioning that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina YouTube channel occupies the second place globally among libraries after the American Library of Congress in terms of the number of followers and videos, since the number of followers of its YouTube channel has reached 101,630 followers, and the number of videos produced about 1824 videos until September 2022.
