The Serapeum of Alexandria… the Latest Release of "Aref" Documentary Series

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has announced the release of the film The Serapeum of Alexandria, as part of the documentary series “Aref". The film explores the history of the temple and its role in connecting the Egyptian and Greek civilizations. It also highlights the period of Alexander the Great’s conquest of Egypt, the division of his empire after his death among the leaders of his army, and the selection of the commander Ptolemy I Soter of Egypt to be the seat of government of the Ptolemaic dynasty, which ushered in the Ptolemaic era that lasted nearly 300 years and was characterized by cultural interactions between the Greeks and Egyptians.
