The Bibliotheca Alexandrina witnessed today the inauguration of a photo exhibition entitled "Modern and Contemporary Ibero-American Art", hosted by the Library from 21 to 27 October 2024, as part of the fourth edition of the Ibero-American Culture Week.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Ms. Heba El-Rafey, Acting Head of the BA External Relations and Media Sector, and Mr. Denys Toscano Amores, Ambassador of Ecuador to Egypt, in the presence of a number of representatives of Latin American countries and diplomatic missions.
Ms. El-Rafey said that the opening of the exhibition coincides with the celebration of the revival of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in October, stressing that the Library's hosting of this event stems from its keenness to promote cultural exchange and understanding between countries.
She added that the fourth edition of the Ibero-American Culture Week offers visitors an opportunity to learn about the rich cultural fabric of these countries through modern and contemporary art.
For his part, Ambassador Denys Toscano Amores stressed the Ibero-American countries’ interest in strengthening bilateral relations with Egypt through cultural and artistic exchange.
It is worth mentioning that the Ibero-American Week, which is being held in Alexandria for the fourth consecutive year, aims to promote cultural exchange and cooperation between the Alexandrian public and Ibero-American countries, as this year witnesses the participation of 12 Ibero-American countries, namely Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Spain, and Uruguay.
