Support to Higher Education

OOC participates in the development of youth through the “Takatuf Scholars Programme”. The Programme was initiated in Spring 2012, by Oman Oil Company, as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility commitment operating under the umbrella of OOC's Human Capital Unit.
Type of Support
The Takatuf Scholars Programme

The Programme offers some of the Sultanate's brightest and best Grade 10/11 students a range of intellectual and personal experiences that will prepare them to be successful independent learners, global citizens and leaders for and in the Sultanate of Oman. It involves selecting 60 scholars each year to be enrolled in a fourteen-month Programme that includes a residential Summer course and an independent learning phase.

Each year, 10 of the 60 scholars will be selected according to the Programme's policies, and based on merit will receive fully paid scholarships to top international universities. These international scholarships include two years of pre-university preparation in renowned schools and academies, and four years of university education culminating in a first degree.

Those Takatuf Scholars who do not receive the international scholarship remain connected to the Programme and participate in continuing Summer assignments, developmental and enrichment programming throughout their undergraduate years. Upon graduation all students become members of the Takatuf Scholars Alumni Group. More information about the Programme could be found at: www.takatufscholars.com
Duration of Support
Approximately 8 years.
