Objective: The student will analyze the importance of the city from the political and commercial point of view, as a Greek city in the Egyptian Delta, and the relations between the city's Greek residents and the neighboring Egyptian villages. That the student concludes the impact of these early relations on the relations between Egypt and Greece during the Hellenistic era until the Roman era.

Content: The course deals with Egypt's relations with Greece, starting before the Hellenistic era until the Roman era. The material contains many different examples of dialogue between Greeks and Egyptians through a comparative study of literary sources and archaeological remains. The most important example in the relations between the two countries is the city of Nokratis, which arose in the 6th century BCE. In the era of King Psamtik II, it is the first independent Greek city in Egypt, as an example of a city-state.
