Objective: This course aims to study the natural sciences and knowledge that flourished during the Hellenistic period and identify the theories and studies of a number of scholars of that period.
Content: This course deals with the study of the natural sciences and knowledge that flourished during the Hellenistic period, after it was, for a long time, a branch of philosophy. These include mathematics, astronomy, geography, medicine, physiology, zoology, and botany. This course presents the theories, works and studies of a number of scholars of that period, such as Archimedes, Euclid, Eratosthenes, Ptolemy the geographer, Pythagoras, Aristarchus, Lycandros, and others.
