Objective: This course aims to study the history of Greece in the Hellenistic period.

Content: This course will study the history of Greece in the Hellenistic period, when the city-state system collapsed, and the whole East opened up to Hellenism. This term has specific implications for geography, chronology, politics and civilization. The Hellenistic world is the world created by Alexander the Great's conquests of the East, a world that has existed as long as the states retained their political independence, and the Greeks in those kingdoms occupied the leading role in all aspects of life. Hence, the course deals with the impact of this new world order on the political, economic and social history of Greece in the Hellenistic period.
