The Hellenistic period witnessed many achievements and contributions in all fields of knowledge that have greatly added to human thought and to the culmination of modern science, culture and civilization in general. To celebrate the 24 centuries that elapsed since its beginning and the startup of the Library and the Museum of Alexandria, the Vardinoyannis Foundation, the Acropolis Museum, the Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies at Bibliotheca Alexandrina and theMariolopoulos-Kanaginis Foundation for the Environmental Sciences took the initiative to co-organize a high-level Conference to serve as a stimulus to scholars of different disciplines and to turn their attention to the Hellenistic world and its importance to our civilization.
