Second LinkSCEEM thematic Workshop on Digital Cultural Heritage, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria, Egypt, September 2012
The workshop focuses on advanced technologies applied in Cultural Heritage preservation research, in particular digital data acquisition (laser scanning and image transformation), digital data visualization (3D models, cultural and natural heritage information, movie production), the use of open source software for processing and editing 3D meshes, and providing suitable infrastructure for cultural heritage community (repositories, services for knowledge management). Theoretical aspects will be complemented with field-work activities at archaeological sites in Alexandria.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina Supercomputer Open Day
Alexandria, 11 July 2012: As a continuation for its support for researchers, and offering the adequate platform for advancing science and technology, the ICT sector at Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized “Supercomputer Open day event/LinkSCEEM-2 User Meeting Roadshow”, for raising awareness about the use of Supercomputers in research.

Historic Arabic Medical Manuscripts go online
Availing hundreds of ancient Arabic medical manuscripts online, the Wellcome Arabic Manuscript Cataloguing Partnership (WAMCP) combines the efforts of the Wellcome Library, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and King’s College London Digital Humanities Department and is funded by JISC and the Wellcome Trust.
