Member of Supreme Council of Culture.

Member of the International Advisory Committee, US Council on Foreign Relations, Washington.

Member of L'Institut d'Egypte (In existence since 1798), Cairo, Egypt.

Ambassador of Egypt to the United States, Washington DC. (November 1984-July 1992).

Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations and leader of the Egyptian delegation to the U.N. conference on disarmament (September 1980 – November 1983) Geneva.

Ambassador of Egypt to Islamic Republic of Pakistan (June 1979 – July 1980).

Director of the Department of International Organizations, Foreign Ministry (November 1983-November 1984).

Founder & Director of the Department of the Policy Planning, Foreign Ministry (June 1977- June 1979).

Participated in the Peace Negotiations between Egypt and Israel beginning with Mena House Conference, December 1977 and ending with the Camp David Peace Accords in September 1978. 

Ambassador El Reedy is a frequent contributor to Egyptian media on national and international developments.

He recently published his memoirs “Journey of my Life”, Cairo, January 2011, publisher Nahdet Misr.
