Biography

 Salah Khalil is Executive Chairman and Founder of Macat International Limited, a new force in education dedicated to delivering the best learning tools possible. Macat is developing the world’s largest interactive digital library, across 14 fields in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, to put superior content in the hands of teachers and learners worldwide – content they can tailor to their own needs.

He is also Founding Trustee of the Alexandria Trust, a UK-based charity dedicated to restoring world-class standards of education in the Arab region. Macat and the Alexandria Trust, which operate independently of each other, share a commitment to catalytic philanthropy.

An Arab Egyptian born in Cairo, Salah Khalil attended the University of South Carolina for his undergraduate studies. He returned to Cairo after graduation and launched a successful career in business. He also became an active participant in Egypt’s political domain. In 2006, he took a position as strategy consultant at the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, an independent political foundation in London. In 2007, he obtained a master’s degree in political sociology from the London School of Economics.
