Biography

Mr. Ahmed graduated from the Higher Institute of Cinema, Animation Department. He directed many animation works for children and youth. He participated as a member of the jury in many festivals, including the Cairo International Film Festival for Children. He organized and participated in several workshops inside and outside Egypt on topics related to animation crafts, writing for children, and the role of media in education. He is a member of the Child Culture Committee at the Supreme Council of Culture for two rounds; where he presented a project on the age classification of artworks. He won numerous awards, including: the Jury of Children Award from the Cairo International Film Festival for Children on “Sukar and Bangar” in 2009, and the Silver Award from Chinh India Kids Film Festival & Forum on "A Very Important Film" in 2010, and the Jury Award of the 17^th National Festival of Cinema on the animation movie "This is Wrong" in 2013.

Presentation Abstract

Crisis of Animation Works Production for Children in Egypt, and Prospects for Future

The use of animation to teach and educate the child and stimulate knowledge has taken giant leaps in countries that produce this art. There has become a non-traditional production of animation and children's programs seeking to keep pace with the child's imagination and abilities, and drives him forward to learn more. However in Egypt, this topic can only be discussed theoretically without real achievements. Animation production throughout an entire year is barely equivalent to the production of one season of any show in other countries, such as USA, France, India, or China. Animation industry is facing many obstacles that stand in the way to achieving production equivalent to what is produced in other countries in the world, both in terms of quantity or quality.

Therefore, this paper presents some of the most important animation production problems in Egypt, and suggested solutions. This would enable us to produce one of the most important and influential arts enjoyed by the child; eventually, we would start out to prospects far beyond the boundaries of traditional styles.

This subject can be regarded as the responsibility of all interested in culture and education of children in Egypt, and not only who are working in the field of animation.
