Membership Benefits
Bibliotheca Alexandrina offers an extensive collection of books, periodicals, newspapers, multimedia, and networked electronic resources covering all fields of human knowledge. These resources are available in Arabic and several European languages.
Membership allows you to use all of the library's resources and access all library premises, except for the museums.
Membership benefits include
With your membership card you may reserve a computer and multimedia equipment.
Membership enables you to search the Library's collections.
Holders of research membership cards have the additional privilege of reserving a study room.
The library offers free membership for the blind and visually impaired to the Taha Hussein Library.
If your card is lost or stolen, you must report it to the library immediately to be issued a new card. A fee of EGP 10 will be charged for the replacement card. Please contact the library for changes of address or telephone number
Requirements
Main Library (over 16 years)
One personal Photo, Identification card or passport, Address verification (recent phone bill or electricity bill), Student ID (university students), Application form to be filled
Young People's (YP) Library (12 to 16 years)
One personal photo, Guardian identification card, national number certificate to the YP, address verification (recent phone bill or electricity bill), application form (to be filled and signed by the guardian)
Children's (CH) Library (6 to 11 years)
One personal photo, Copy of birth certificate, guardian identification card, national number certificate to the CH, address verification (recent phone bill or electricity bill), application form (to be filled and signed by the guardian)
Taha Hussein Library* (blind & visually impaired)
One personal photo, identification card or passport, address verification (recent phone bill or electricity bill), student ID (university students), application form to be filled

Rules and Regulations
Members must bring their membership card every time they visit the library.
Membership cards are for the sole use of the person to whom they were issued and are not transferable.
If your card is lost or stolen, you must report it to the library immediately to have a new one issued. A fee of EGP 10 will be assessed for the replacement card in order to avoid misuse.
Please contact the library for change of address or telephone number.
Members must leave their personal belongings at the deposit office before they enter the library.
No smoking, food, or beverages are allowed inside the library.
Members must keep their mobile phones silent and answer their calls outside the reading areas.
Study rooms are available for researchers (graduate and post-graduate students and university faculty and staff).
Members must reserve computer time at the reservation desk in the library entrance before logging on.
Members must adhere to the Library's copyright policy.
Members can borrow books according to the Library's circulation policy.
In case of damage or the loss of a book, the member will be charged for the price of the book plus a 30% handling and processing fee.
Users must not mark, deface, or damage library books in any way. Theft of Library materials is a serious offense. Violators will be subject to permanent exclusion from the library and arrest.
Members must adhere to the Library's policy on the acceptable use of computing resources. Violators will have their membership suspended for two months.
