Presentation Abstract:
Abstract for Session A
As you all know, Denmark is hosting the World Climate Summit, COP15, from 30 November to 7 December 2009. This is for Denmark indeed a very big challenge. From the day when it was announced that Denmark should host COP15, climate change and energy production, energy distribution and energy consumption has been on the Danish agenda.
Experimentarium have benefitted from this. We have raised more than 1,5 million Euro from the state owned national energy company DONG Energy to self produce an exhibition on future energy technology and climate change. 25% of the exhibition shall be copied and displayed in a science msueum in Jutland. Also, Experimentarium have raised 800.000 Euro to produce a website on climate change and energy and develop a consensus conference model where well known Danish sciencetists and energy experts are role played by young university students. The target audience is young students aged 16 - 19 years. All this had not happened with out COP15. My conclusion is that science centers shall cooperate as much as possible with the international initiatives. They are launch pads for our development.
