Presentation Abstract:
A simple model who can lead to establishment of science centers.
Turkey Science Center Foundation has successfully implemented a model for creating small scale 1,000 square meters science centers without any government financial help.
You need three strong parties to realise these projects:
• A civil society establishment who will be the operator / developer and manager
• A local municipality who will support such an idea by providing the land and building
• Sponsoring companies and universities who would take in creative programs
Possibility to establish such centers in diverse geographies by an estimated annual running budget of USD 600,000 (not initial set up cost). Annual capacity of 140,000 students for such centers.
The idea is to bring the science centers to highly populated urban centers with this formulae.
The idea to have 30 to 40 percent of annual budget income for entry ticket sales.
Rather than building large scale science centers we embarked on developing several small science centers at various urban centers.
