A Delegation from the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) in a Conference in Greece

Alexandria — As part of the international relations between the BA and countries from all over the world, Ambassador Taher Khalifa, Head, External Relations Sector and Dr. Khaled Azab, Director, Media Department represented the BA in a conference held in Athens entitled Cross-Cultural Relations and Media Institutions in Egypt. Mr. Evripidis Stilianidis, Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hamdi Loza, Ambassador of Egypt to Greece, Mr. Essam Rifaat, Chief Editor, Weekly AlAhram El Iktisadi, Mr. Alaa Helmy, Correspondent, Akhbar El Yom participated in the conference, in addition to representatives from the Greek media, papers, and TV channels. Among the main themes discussed in the conference are strengthening the economic, political, and cultural relations between Egypt and Greece; media coverage of the Arab world in Egypt and Greece; and the role of media in the cultural exchange between Egypt and Greece. It is worth noting that the conference is organized by the Hellenic Leadership Institute, a non-profit, non-governmental research organization (NGO), founded by a group of young entrepreneurs in Athens, Greece in 2001. The Institute aims at identifying and educating the next generation of leaders in the Mediterranean region by carrying out joint project with European and Arab NGOs.
