Works of Said Ibrahim in a Lecture at the BA

Alexandria— the BA Calligraphy Center is organizing on Tuesday, 13 February 2007, a lecture on the Artist Said Ibrahim by Mr. Mohamed Roteil.

Said Ibrahim was a renowned artist, well appreciated by his peers, and the country at large. He was a member in a committee to facilitate learning Arabic Calligraphy in the forties, the Supreme Council for Arts and Literature, and the Supreme Council for Arts and Culture.

He enjoyed a good reputation among his students and colleagues until he died at the age of 96 years on 21 January 1994. Following his death, the Research Center for History, Arts, and Islamic Culture called the Fifth International Competition for Arabic Calligraphy in Istanbul after his name, the competition is held to commemorate great names in Calligraphy throughout history.

The lecture will start at 12:00 hrs at the BA Auditorium.
