The Seventh International Summer Festival at the BA

Alexandria— The BA Arts Center is organizing its Seventh International Summer Festival entitled “Day and Night”, from 1 July to 15 August 2008. The Festival presents musical, arts and dance performances. This year’s festival has an international and Euro-Mediterranean character and reflects openness to the other.

The Festival will include Mahmoud Reda’s Exhibition featuring photos of his band’s tours around the world. Mahmoud Reda’s band will present a number of its most famous dances under the title "The World Dances with Mahmoud Reda".

The Festival features a series of concerts entitled “Music and Cinema”, including a music selection of film and TV soundtracks by Omar Khairat with the BA Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Sherif Mohie Eldin.

“Alexandria Contemporary Dance Space – First Edition”, with the participation of bands from Arab and European countries, will be held as part of the Seventh International Summer Festival.

Celebrating the Centenary of Laila Mourad and the first screening of her Movie “Laila” (1938), the BA chamber orchestra conducted by Maestro Sherif Mohie Eldin, will play A selection of Laila Mourad’s beloved songs.

During the period from 5 to 8 August 2008, the BA will hold the third edition of the BA Music and Song Competition for Western Popular Styles. Awards will be handed over to winners on the closing ceremony held on Friday, 9 August 2008.
