Investing in Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development Preliminary Conference at the BA

Alexandria— Since cultural heritage is not only a preservation of national wealth but also a stimulator of substantial income, the BA is hosting, from 2 to 4 December 20008, the Cultural Heritage Preparatory Conference; a preliminary event for another International Conference entitled “Investing in Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development”.

Over the course of three extensive days, the BA Preliminary Conference, involving approximately 150 participants focusing on the expertise and experiences from the MENA region, will mainly limit its focus on the political, economic, social, and technological aspects related to investment in cultural heritage. Furthermore, case studies and reports as well as new methodologies applied in different countries shall be discussed. Adopting the past and its heritage as its main concern, the Conference will not fail to heed the future its respects since it will concentrate on new and creative strategies in cultural industries; such as e-tourism and the use of technology in promoting cultural products.

The BA Preliminary Conference will produce a publication of its proceedings and the success stories told during its sessions, it is to this end that it will contribute to the Second International Cultural Heritage Conference in Rome 2009.
