Maarten Boasson at the BA

Alexandria—Professor Maarten Boasson will be giving a lecture entitled “Addressing the Software Crisis After 40 Years of Software Engineering” at the BA on Thursday, 12 February 2009.

Professor Maarten Boasson is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Amsterdam, and owner of Quaerendo Invenieties company http://www.quaerendo.com for research, system design and engineering consultancy. In his Lecture, Professor Boasson will tackle the current deteriorated situation of software development, highlighting the reasons of the failure to achieve the goals of the two NATO workshops in 1968, that were set to solve the software crisis back then. He will also cast some light on the possible approaches to get back on track to reliable software development. The Lecture will be held at 2:30 pm in the BACC Small Theater.

Being inspired by music in his work, Professor Boasson will also share his passion for classical music in a cello-piano duo recital with Peter Cramer. They will be playing works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Camille Saint-Saëns and Sergei Rachmaninoff. The Concert will take place on Friday, 13 February, 2009 at 8:00 pm in the BACC Small Theater.
