“For the New Century: New Instruments and New Music” Conference at the BA

Alexandria— The BA Arts Center is organizing a one-day Conference entitled “For the New Century: New Instruments and New Music” on Friday, 13 February 2009.

The Conference will start by a talk by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria. Martin Schleske will give a lecture about “The Development of the Violin in the Past Centuries and Visions for the Future”, followed by a roundtable discussion moderated by Dr. Serageldin. A duo recital by Professor Maarten Boasson on the cello and Peter Cramer on the piano will perfectly conclude the day.

The Conference and the Concert will take place at the BACC Small Theater. The Conference is open for public free of charge, but a ticket is required to attend the Concert which will start at 8:00 pm.
